Mendip Morris - morris dancing in The Borough!

Saturday 14 May from 11am

Come and watch. Or come and join in! This mixed Morris ‘side’ perform their dances using hankies and sticks and with bells on their legs. The dashing dancers are accompanied by a band of merry musicians; between them they provide an uplifting performance guaranteed to have you skipping for joy!

Mendip Morris was founded in 1956 as Mendip Morris Men, but is now open to all. The side performs around the North Somerset and Mendip area with a repertoire that is predominantly in the Cotswold style: originating in South West England, using hankies and sticks. In addition, Mendip Morris perform a few Border dances, some clog dances from the North West and a selection of traditional sword dances from the North East.

New members are always welcome – either as dancers or musicians.
