Jane Tapley

"It's not in the script!"

Tuesday 10 May at 12 noon (doors open 11:30)

Jane Tapley is a special events organiser at the Theatre Royal Bath, a role that has given her a unique insight into the theatrical world and the personalities who inhabit that world. Not only does she have 25 years of experience as an interviewer, she also welcomes the actors to her wonderful Regency home in Bath, making her the ultimate theatrical landlady with a wealth of amusing anecdotes to share.

Her material comes from conversations with Sir Alec Guinness, Nigel Hawthorne, Timothy West, Prunella Scales. The list goes on – beyond the confines of the theatre – to include Sir Edward Heath, Sir John Major, the Duchess of Devonshire and Sir James Dyson. Her repertoire is as fascinating as it is surprising. Not for nothing does she call her treasure-trove of theatrical tales It’s Not in the Script!

Jane’s light-hearted talks are well known in the area, and she is a regular at book festivals and as an after-dinner speaker. Her insights into the world that exists behind the scenes when the curtain comes down are legendary!
